Design Innovation Centre Report

FRONT COVER.png

Overview

The Design Innovation Centre- an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, approached me to design their report for the 5th Annual DIC Meet in Delhi. With only one week from concept to print-ready delivery, the brief suggested reusing the previous year’s edition. Instead, I quickly evaluated the old report and redesigned it to improve clarity, hierarchy, and visual coherence. The final report was delivered on time and launched by the heads of the top five IITs, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Education.

Problems Identified in the Previous Edition

Lack of standardization: Inconsistent layouts, typography, and spacing weakened hierarchy and made the content feel disjointed.

Editorial errors: Multiple text inconsistencies affected the report’s professionalism.

Outdated visual style: The overall design looked dated and did not reflect the innovative identity of the organisation.

Concept

The Design Innovation Centre was established by the Ministry of Education to promote research and design innovation across sectors and to encourage collaboration between institutions. At its core, research and innovation act as bridges- linking need to solution, and improving everyday living. They connect gaps, ideas, and possibilities.

To translate this idea visually, I created a graphic language built entirely from dots and lines. The dots represent key points- needs, ideas, and solutions, while the lines illustrate the connections formed through research and innovation. This simple system became the foundation for the report’s visual identity.
